Heavy Metal Gym was originally founded in the 1980s as Kamloops’ first 24-hour fitness facility. In December 2017, it was purchased by Angus Glasgow and Joe Doyle.
Joe is a former professional boxer, and Angus is a Navy Veteran with a background in everything from Parkour to Jiu Jitsu. Together, they bring a unique mix of experience and passion for fitness. Both have strong ties to the Kamloops community, working with local businesses and the City of Kamloops to help revitalize the North Shore.
Our mission is not only to maintain Heavy Metal Gym’s proud legacy but to help it grow and flourish as a cornerstone of health and fitness in our city. We are committed to educating and empowering the citizens of Kamloops on the importance of physical activity and building a stronger, healthier community.
What We Offer
We are fully equipped with everything from strength and cardio machines to functional training gear. Our boxing ring is open for personal use — while group lessons aren’t available at the moment, you’re welcome to train or spar with a friend, or even meet new people who share your passion for boxing. Chalk is provided and welcome for heavy lifts, and controlled weight drops are absolutely allowed — train hard, safely, and confidently.
